Healing & the Kingdom of God
Jesus went everywhere in Galilee, teaching in the synagogues, preaching the Good News about the kingdom of heaven, and healing all the people’s diseases and sicknesses. The news about Jesus spread all over Syria, and people brought all the sick to him. They were suffering from different kinds of diseases. Some were in great pain, some had demons, some were epileptics, and some were paralyzed. Jesus healed all of them.
Matthew 4:23-24 NCV
Jesus went into Galilee, where he preached God’s Good News. “The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!”
Mark 1:14b-15 NLT
Knowing healing ministry takes place in the Kingdom of God…
1) Strengthens our faith and increases our expectancy for Jesus to heal right here, right now.
Jesus: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come. The Scripture you’ve just heard has been fulfilled this very day!”
Luke 4:18-19, 21 NLT
“Heal the sick, and tell them, ‘The Kingdom of God is near you now.’”
Luke 10:9 NLT
2) Enables us to deal with the differing results that occur.
Jesus answered them, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom…”
Matthew 13:11 NASB
3) Shows us that we must live according to Kingdom values.
“God acts in healing where God reigns. God does not reign where God’s will is flouted… The prime condition for healing is therefore to enter the kingdom, to let God reign, to give God free hand in one’s life.” (Albert Day in Letters on the Healing Ministry)
